Come Meet The Dynamic Duo Behind ‘RaeRae and Bo’s Adventures’
Let’s get started!
Hello! We’re RaeRae and Bo, the dynamic duo behind “RaeRae and Bo’s Adventures,” welcome you to our blog! We’re a Black queer (lesbian) couple living in Belgium. Hopefully, we’ll share our stories and our laughter with you. But first, let’s introduce ourselves properly.
Bo is a DJ extraordinaire, known for her electrifying sets at some of Belgium’s biggest music festivals, including Rock Werchter, Couleur Café, and Les Ardentes. She’s a force to be reckoned with behind the decks, but don’t let her cool DJ persona fool you. Offstage, she’s a goofball with a heart of gold. She’s always ready with a joke or a funny story to lighten the mood. She’s also a passionate supporter of local Belgian acts, often collaborating with them to create magic on the music scene. Then there’s me, RaeRae. By day, I’m a freelance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) consultant, working with organizations to create more inclusive and equitable environments. By night (and sometimes by day too), I’m an LGBTQI+ activist, advocating for equal rights and representation. You can find me here.
But in between all that, I’m just a girl who loves a good book, a delicious matcha latte, and a dance-off with Bo in our living room.
We both share a love for travel, food, dance, nightlife, reading, and budgeting. Yes, you read that right, budgeting. Nothing gets us more excited than a well-planned budget (wow that sounds boring af)! Well, actually a well-planned trip or a well-cooked vegan meal get me excited too. We’re all about living life to the fullest, but we also believe in doing it responsibly and sustainably.
Brussels of all places!
We met in Brussels, the heart of Europe, and let’s just say, things haven’t been the same since. It was at a party fundraising for a film project on the queer community in Kinshasa, DRC.
Even though we didn’t formally introduce ourselves, we did become aware of eachother’s existence. After many text messages, crossed wires and smoke signals we finally decided to meet up. We spent the rest of the day together, laughing, talking, and bonding over our shared love for banter, peguins and music.
Since then, our life has been a whirlwind of adventures. From getting lost down the cobblestone streets to dancing the night away at local clubs, from cooking up feasts at home to budgeting for our next big trip, every day packs its own little adventure.
The future…
Through this blog, we hope to share our adventures with you. We’ll give you a glimpse into our life in Belgium, share our favorite travel destinations, offer budgeting tips, and maybe even share some of our favorite (sometimes vegan) recipes. We’ll also talk about our experiences as a Black queer (lesbian) couple, the challenges we face, and the victories we celebrate.
So, welcome to “RaeRae and Bo’s Adventures.” We’re excited to share our journey with you, and we hope you’ll join us as we navigate life, love, and everything in between. Here’s to adventures, laughter, love, and a whole lot of vegan waffles!
